PROFILE

Katarina, the founder of KHD Consulting International is a cross-cultural trainer, career consultant and public speaker with extensive experience in career development and cross-cultural competence training working with both individuals and organizations. She has worked with the United Nations in spouse/partner career support and staff development, and with Columbia University School of International and Public Affairs in the Office of Career Services as Assistant Director overseeing the international internship programs and as an Adjunct Professor in Career Development. She has provided cross-cultural competence training with several large global relocation providers.

Katarina grew up in Finland and is fluent in Swedish and Finnish in addition to English and some French.  In Finland she worked at Åbo Akademi University in adult education and training before moving to the USA to pursue her dream of an international life and career. In addition to Finland and the USA she has also lived in France

Katarina is a columnist for Vasabladet, a Swedish language daily newspaper in Finland, where she comments and examines current affairs in the US. She has also published several articles in other Finnish magazines and newspapers on living in the US as a modern immigrant. In her early 20s she published a book in art history documenting a local festival  tradition from the 16th and 17th centuries.

As a passionate life-long learner she has a Masters Degree in Social Science; Certifications include: Adult Career Planning and Placement from NYU; Cross-Cultural Competence from the Interchange Institute in Cambridge, and Myers Briggs Type Indicator. She is currently pursuing a Masters Degree in Mental Health Counseling with a focus on cross-cultural counseling at Iona College.
