Remember to keep an accomplishment journal. It does not need to be fancy or well written – it can be a simple list or an e-mail folder where you save compliments and positive feed-back received.
Your accomplishment journal should also include notes about times when you did something really well. Something you are really proud of, perhaps completing a really challenging task at work, dealing with a very challenging client, or overcoming a personal challenge or fear.
Why is this important?
For many reasons -it helps you stay resilient during difficult times. Use it as a confidence booster, perhaps before a job interview or a difficult negotiation, and finally, it will help you find direction and purpose as you plan your career and life.
Here is a recent feed-back from a client. It made me smile and feel grateful for the generosity of this person who took her time, without asking, to share these lovely words with me.
On that note, when did you last share unsolicited positive feedback?
